Hello Cliff, We have found that a complaint CEC power supply to be larger in size and more expensive then a noncompliant one as our power supply vendors have to use better quality core material and the transformer ends up being larger.
The cost is not insignificant if you have a large volume product which uses a wall wart.... I'm trying to determine, for the benefit of our purchasing group, what others have found relative to the cost of a direct plug in type class 2 adapter (aka wall wart) that complies with the efficiency limits vs. one that was of the non compliant type. Any info you can or would share is appreciated. Table U-2: January 1st, 2008. However, I received another version where these dates have been changed as follows: Table U-1: => January 1st, 2007. Table U-2: => July 1st, 2008. According to the info I obtained, these changes were effective last April 2006. Does anyone know what the official dates are? As always, thanks for your feedback.
