Ta Dah, welcome to first public emission of my automated mail response system (done in Python, of course). Now back to my regularly scheduled drivel.
My employer produced several power supplies for the LED-based traffic signals and public lighting (about 6 years ago). And they met temperature, shock, vibration, EMC, and NEC requirements for use from Nome to Namibia. And our reward for this early innovation was to have the design 're-invented' on another continent. But today my employer's non-customers have one small problem, they modified component selection such that the design no longer meets EMC or temperature specs. Hah ! Lessons That I Learned From This Project: 1. No good deed goes unpunished 2. The 'green' industry is full of scams, and under-funded, half-witted start-up companies. 3. The 'net' Carbon foot-print resultant is not always positive for all lo-power technologies. 4. The bottom-line drivers cannot afford to, and will not reward the most safe, nor the most reliable, nor the most efficient, nor the least RF emissive. And there is no IEC standard that can fix this.
