I recall the Machinery Directive does not apply where the energy source is
"direct manual effort" .... search the doc with that string to confirm. The
exclusion does not apply if there is an energy storage device gathering power
>from the direct manual effort (e.g., spring, compressed air tank).... The
Commission MD Guide can also help resolve your question.
