The product safety regulatory function in Abu Dhabi was very recently started. The last I heard, they were establishing a national lab and intend to harmonize with IEC standards. The controling organization is the 'Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council'.
As for stds like 950 and 601, I have not seen any national diffs for the UAE, but there is a UAE country code for the TRFs - so perhaps the IEC version was adopted as is until the QCC can get something done for their part of the world. A good CB report should work for the common stuff that would be scoped in the LVD.
