Green Power and the Modern Grid – a Presentation by the Atlanta Chapter of the
IEEE EMC Society

This is a general presentation of the Smart Grid describing seven attributes of
the modernization of the grid. We present the Dept of Energy’s modern grid
strategy and some of its typical architectures. The presentation covers the
choices in wired and wireless utility communications media that will be needed
for deploying the Advanced Metering Infrastructure into the future and presents
Standards and Regulatory testing to address physical (including EMC) threats to
the infrastructure.

The IEEE Atlanta IM/EMC Chapter is hosting an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer
Presentation with speaker Jerry Ramie. He will be speaking about Green Power
and the Modern Grid on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 6-8PM at the GTRI Conference
Center located at 250 14th Street, NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30318. Pizza and soft

200+ seat venue, but still reserve your seat soon! The invitation is going out
to all IEEE sections, and general industry. I expect this to be a very popular
event so register early. It is first come, first served for registration.

Please Register online. It’s free, but I need to know how much food and drinks
to count on. Parking is free too, and directions are easy.
