Deep red = 700 nm Saturated red = 650 nm HeNe laser red = 633 nm Traffic light red = 625 nm Low pressure sodium lamp = 598 nm Traffic light amber = 590 nm Yellow = 575 nm peak scotopic (color) vision = 555 nm (yellowish green) Saturated (RGB triad) green = 525 nm Traffic light green = 505 nm (bluish to help distinguish from red for color blind persons) Saturated blue = 475 nm Indigo (purplish) blue = 445 nm Deep violet = 400 nm
To me, LP sodium lamps are yellowish orange. For a really "orange orange", 605 nm sounds about perfect. No comment on the regulatory aspect though.
