Doug and Robert, My previous reply did not mention tables 2,3,4 in IEC60204 because the OP did not indicate if the device was for North America, or was a machinery device. In any case, orange is not specified for any operator indicator or condition in 60204-1.
The use of 'orange' illumination is problematic unless the indicator will be next to a red source where the human can immediately note the difference. For consumer products, color-based information must not be subject to cognitive dissonance.
