Hi Ian See annex N of IEC60065. For mains supplies over 150V, the routine production test voltages are 2.12kVdc for basic insulation and 3.54kVdc for double or reinforced insulation. So you'd normally expect to use 2.12kVdc for class I products, unless there are parts of the product emplying class II construction? Chris Wordley

The products are class 1 audio products type tested to IEC 60065. We are unable to do the lower voltage ac test because of the emi filtering in the PSU. Can anyone tell me how this voltage level was arrived at and why it has been increasing over the past decade?
