Cables going outside the shielded chamber through a pipe or porthole can be
described as building your own coax! A signal cable in a pipe is a coax that
will carry any and all received energy into the chamber to then be measured as
radiating from the portion of the cable above the ground plane.
I use ferrites at the porthole or pipe opening on the outside.
Any ferrites used within the chamber above the ground plane would be required
to be part of the EUT when marketed.

        Hello Everyone,
I have been questioned (Internally) regarding our test setup for
Radiated
Emissions under EN55022:2006 +A1. Therefore, I thought I would do a survey to
see how my interpretation fairs against others.

A simple question, are ferrites allowed on cables connected to AE
located off
the turn table?

        Example setup:

        - EUT on Table
        - AE located outside Chamber/Test area
        - Interconnecting cable is routed from EUT straight down through center
of
table, under ground screen to AE.

Question: Are ferrites allowed anywhere along the interconnecting cable?

Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

        Thank you,
