Getting from UL requirements to CE requirements is still a somewhat
tortuous path.
I usually work machinery customers wanting to meet the Euro
requirements thru a path that goes something like this.
Many machinery shops are UL 508 Panel Shops. This is a good start
for reviewing the machine to NFPA 79; this standard is used for field
evaluations within the US (& getting a label on the equipment showing
compliance is possible). NFPA 79 is harmonized with IEC 60204, altho there
are differences because of code & practice differeces. That only leaves the
real Euro differences to deal with for the electrical evaluation of the
machine.
