Bob - It is acceptable to replace antenna with a dummy load for this radio type (13.56MHz, Part 15) for the measurement of the conducted emissions at the transmit frequency of the radio. This may not be done for the AC conducted emission measurement at other frequencies. The relevant Knowledge Database is KDB Publication Number: 174176 <http:// jallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/kdb/forms/FTSSearchResultPage.cfm?id=34866&switch=P> , published 07/02/2008.

The host product complies with Class A limits without RFID module transmitting. RFID has FCC modular approval, but was compliance tested for conducted emissions using a dummy load in place of the antenna. Is it therefore acceptable to also test host product (for FCC Class A compliance) with module transmitting into dummy loads instead of actual antenna? A search of the FCC knowlege database did not turn up any clues. adTHANKSvance Bob Sykes EMC Engineer - This message is from the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society emc-pstc discussion list.
