Hi All, you know I cant resist weighing in...

A few weeks ago I asked for the data supporting the inclusion of phase
measurements in LISN calibrations/verifications. Other than being told data was
presented at a CISPR meeting, none was forthcoming.

Until proven otherwise, I would venture to say this is another academic
exercise to increase the visibility of and press for, MU in testing. In
reality, it costs money, time, increases chances of errors and returns nothing
in the product quality.

So, how does this get reversed OUT of CISPR requirements?

My 20 cents worth,

Sincerely,

Derek Walton

I’m struggling, too. It would appear as though you cannot correct for phase
angle variations in your LISN; it only affects your measurement uncertainty
calculations. Phase angle would not be factored in to your test results or
your correction factors. If your LISN is bad or going bad, it should show up
during the attenuation and impedance test. Am I understanding this correctly?

I'm trying, but failing to understand why phase would be important for a LISN
or for any other transducer used during EMC evaluation. Don't EMC receivers
report received signals as a scalar value?

Already in CISPR 16-1-2:2004 plus amendments 1 and 2. Added by Amendment
2.
