Hello John,

For the EU, see section 5.3 of the Blue Guide. It states “The technical
documentation must be kept for at least 10 years from the last date of
manufacture of the product, unless the directive expressly provides for any
other duration.”

http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/policies
single-market-goods/files/blue-guide/guidepublic_en.pdf

The new EMC Directive, in Annex II item 4, specifically calls out the 10 year
retention except for fixed installations. Annex I item 2 requires
documentation for fixed installations to be held as long as the installation
is in service.

I am unaware of any FCC requirement to retain documentation for radiated
emissions.

Subject: Test report retention times

What are the required retention times for a test report for EMC testing?

I thought the FCC was 10 years from date of last manufacture. Can anyone
provide me with the reference to the relevant portion of 47CFR (or whatever
portion of CFR it is).

What are the requirements for the European EMC Directive? Here again, a
reference would be helpful.

Thanks.
