Caveat - I have done only one Argentine project - so am NOT an expert.

1. Am not certain about "utilize their S-Mark". The end-user always 'use'
the suppliers' agency marks and/or reports for components or subsystems as
part of the end-use system submittal. When my employer's customers request
a full report that will support a particular mark, I always send whatever
is allowed to publish, so I do not understand why your suppliers what not
provide a full safety data package to a big-name customer.

2. Typically no, but it can be done if they appoint you as their agent and
they are subject to audits, etc.

Subject: Argentine S-Mark Questions

I am unclear on some issues regarding the Argentine S-Mark (product
safety) for ITE (data center computer equipment - no telecom).
1. If we are re-selling another manufacturer's product which already
has the manufacturer's S-Mark (an example might be a Dell, or Intel
server), is it possible to leverage the manufacturer's S-Mark for sales
into Argentina. Is any action required on our part to satisfy the
Argentine regulatory requirements, and if so, what? In other words, must
we get permission from the S-Mark holder to utilize their S-Mark, and if
so, what is the best way to do that?
2. If we are re-selling another manufacturer's product which DOES NOT
have a manufacturer's S-Mark, what action must we take in order to meet
the regulatory requirements in Argentina. Is possible to get an S-Mark
for someone else's product (a CIG023 factory inspection seems to be
normally required).
I appreciate any enlightenment that you experts can shed on this matter.
Thanks,
Jim
