If it's the signal lines:
Serial impedance (L-R-ferrite) combined with 2 fast diodes to supply and
ground.

If its ground (shell) better ground the shell with (metal) enclosure

If you have no ground .... re-design ;<)))

Without a full ground plane in the PCB you will have a tough time
fixing.

I have a 24VDC operated ITE / radio unit.
It fails on 6kV (contact discharge) applied to RX port. Microprocessor
restarts.
Any basic advice how to protect the unit? I have no ground in my system.
