Is Canada mandating it on ISM equipment? If there is a symbol from Table 1 of the 61010-1 standard that explains the hazard to the operator, text is not required on the warning label. If the text is not required, but you choose to include English Text on the warning label, as long as the symbol explains the hazard and you explain what the symbols means in the manual, you should not have to include text of other languages on the label.
I generally see very few bi-lingual or multilingual text on warning labels of ISM equipment. About the only one I see on occasion is the warning about disconnecting the power cord before servicing. I have noticed with increasing frequency that safety test labs are applying the requirements for factory machines and consumer products to ISM equipment. Generally, the ISM environment is less strict because of the level of education and training required to operate the equipment and because an ISM environment is more restricted. If you think your product is being evaluated as something other than ISM equipment used in an ISM environment, bring that to the attention of your NRTL engineer. We run into this problem all the time. We recently had an inspector tell us our mass spectrometer required a lock-out disconnect switch, a 3 color status light tower, and an emergency stop switch (though it has no external moving parts). Obvious he though it was some kind of factory machine and not a piece of high tech laboratory equipment. The hard part is getting them to admit their error. The requirement was there but now they are seeking to inforce it more. Kind of like the Ontario Electrical Safety registration. We know what happened to that! This would allow Listing/Certification with English only labels and manuals I have recently been informed by another NRTL/SCC approved 3rd party that this is no longer the case and that any products they certify for CDN must have bi-lingual labels. Remember that these are not consumer products and they may or may not be sold in CDN.
