Hi Jim,

I can confirm that Annex C of CAN CSA C22.2 214-2008 edition specifies under
CABLE SUBSTITUTIONS that

(c) Communications cables marked CMP have been found to meet the standard
criteria for FT6.

I hope it helps.

Respectfully yours,
Constantin

Subject: plenum rated cable for Canada

News groupers,

We have run into a situation where some cable may be marked incorrectly, or
perhaps not be sufficient for the application. I need to get some information.

In Canada, a flame/smoke rating system of FT-1 through FT-6 is used. (Perhaps
CSA C22 No. 03-M-2001)

In the U.S., a plenum (CMP) rating is designated in the identification on the
cable.

Does anyone have a comparison chart or can you give me direction in verifying
(or not) that FT-6 is the same as plenum rated?

The cable is marked FT-4, CMP. Before I go to the vendor, I need a bit of
education.

Thank you.
