Others have already said this, but I will re-iterate, from personal
experience.  You want all your services (electrical power, telephone, cable
or whatever means your internet is provided) to ground at the building entry
point, and to the same ground rod. That will prevent differential potentials
>from destroying the telephone/cable/whatever equipment that connects to
these services.
