(;-) PLT is possibly the biggest challenge that the electronics industry has been faced with since the Enigma decoding project or the Apollo programme. It looks impossible to make it work to everyone's satisfaction, but that's what professional engineers are for! IF it can be made to work, the economic benefits are potentially enormous, so all the effort that is being put in is worthwhile. What is not worthwhile, and I have said this in a standards committee, is attempting to fudge the requirements so that unsatisfactory systems are released to the market. The BT project can be regarded as a necessary field trial to see how much interference ACTUALLY results. The way EMC requirements are developed (and there is probably no better way) can result in a requirement being too stringent, either initially or as a result of later developments, whereas one that is not stringent enough is fairly easily detected and toughened. -- OOO - Own Opinions Only.
