Hello Nick, The WEEE DIRECTIVE 2002/96/EC - Annex IV says "The symbol must be printed visibly, legibly and indelibly".

EN 50419:2006 simply says : "If the size or function of the product means that (the markings) cannot be applied..." but give no minimum dimension.
