Kevin, 2043 is primarily concentrates on heat and smoke/chemical substance release, not so much if it is actually resistant to fire. They perform product level testing. UL will set the product on fire and will monitor product heat release and smoke. For the plastics, here is the quote from UL Fire test expert: "The best plastics that I have seen in the UL 2043 test (lowest smoke and heat release) are combinations of PEI/PC (polyetherimide/polycarbonate). I know that one brand name is Ultem, but I believe there are others. Hopeful the resin suppliers can give you more exact performance information." Hope this helps Mark

I think I remember that UL 2043 is commonly called the Steiner tunnel test, and it is a bulk materials test, down something like a 24 foot chamber. UL 94 is a small sample test. It has generally been difficult for us to find materials that we have any confidence of meeting UL 2043.
