We make laboratory equipment which falls under the harmonized family
standard EN 61326-1 which currently calls out the IEC 61000-4-6:2006
(which I think is Ed2.2). So when the IEC comes out with their next
version should we stick with what our family standard calls out or test
to the newer versions? Or can we do whatever we want?
This question was settled in CENELEC a long time ago - so long ago that
people may have forgotten. The **edition called up** by the product
[-family] standard is the one that is applicable, not any later version.
Some old IEC standards have in the 'boilerplate' text of the Normative
References clause, an invitation to explore the use of a later edition
than that listed. This no longer applies, and the text no longer
includes that invitation.
