Hi Amund, The relevant product standard will identify the characteristics of the product which are regulated by the CPR and of these there will be a minimum set of characteristics which must be declared for the CE marking to be valid. The manufacturer may choose to identify the other (non-mandatory) characteristics as “NPD” on their Declaration of Performance.
There has to be at least one characteristic for which performance is declared in order for the CE mark to be valid but for some products, only one characteristic is mandatory, and all others can be ‘NPD’. Note that it is still up to individual Member States to determine which performance levels for specific characteristics are required for their market place, which means that a manufacturer may find that their product cannot be legally used in some territories even though it is perfectly legitimate for them to CE mark and sell it.
