John I believe this question is mainly up to the IEC technical committee from which all other national versions are derived. I see a fair number of standards and to some extent they all seem to do certain things differently. For example, some standards require 100% routine tests for high current ground bond, others only low current continuity, some on a sample basis and some not at all. I did not see it in UL60950 2nd or 3rd edition either. If I remember correctly it was in UL478 and still is required in many other Standards. Any thoughts on why it was not carried into the new Standards and/or why ground continuity wouldn't be required as a routine test??

Yes, UL 60950-1 does not have a âroutineâ ground continuity test. In fact, see 1.4.2:
Except where otherwise stated, the tests specified in this standard are type tests.
In IEC product safety standards, tests can only be âtypeâ tests. But, this principle is not universally followed. (UL 60950-1 was based on IEC 60950-1, but not identical.)
Not only that, TC108 is publishing a routine test standard, IEC 62911 (aka 108-570). It is likely that UL will pick up on this and publish a âroutineâ test standard that can apply to a number of their standards.

Thank you everyone!! Forgot about, but found "routine tests". What's odd to me is it doesn't seem ground continuity is required as a routine test.
