Common sense says that as in ESD tests on isolated
EUTs a bleeder resistor set
can be applied to discharge before applying next
impulse. Otherwise the test
could be carried out in DC mode.
I agree.
The specs for one opto I researched are 1 pF and
100 Gohm. This capacitance is likely to hold the
charge for longer than the 5 seconds between
successive tests. Might as well be a dc test.
