Folks, I'm trying to determine requirements and responsibilities in the EU if an end user/large business creates their own machinery for in-house use incorporating partly-completed machinery from other OEMs with corresponding DoIs. Does the Machinery Directive even apply for equipment that is assembled for in-house use or only to equipment manufactured and sold to another user? Or are there other directives that would apply that the business would be responsible for instead of the MD? Is there anything that states an end user/business cannot act as the "manufacturer" defined in the MD assuming all responsibilities? In the US OSHA laws would govern what the end user is responsible for. Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?
