Have any of you ever seen EMI qualification intentionally scheduled at the end of environmental qualification for the purpose of assessing EMI performance after the suite of environmental tests has taken its toll?
While I was at Wang Laboratories, 1983-1987, we did this more than a few times, and I noted – when we did – that the results were often better than those of equipment straight off the production line.
I ascribed that to the oxide coating between conductive surfaces having been scrubbed off during vibration testing.
Not all environmental testing leaves equipment operational, of course.
