I don’t know of a clearing house but I have all our critical component
information (OEM, part numbers, approvals, ratings) managed electronically in
our ERP system. There is a separate record for each component and for each
OEM. When an OEM morphs I just update the OEM record with the new information
but keeping some history so we know what it was. If an OEM splits then maybe a
need a new additional record. We run into this all the time. Also related is
when a Manufacturer name turns into a brand name like Bussmann fuses made by
Bussmann Manufacturing, then McGraw Electric, then Cooper Industries, now Eaton
still making Bussmann fuses. I guess AMP was in the same boat. Others
re-brand the products under the new Manufacturer.

Subject: [PSES] Tracking critical component suppliers

All,

We all know that the last several years there have been many mergers and
acquisitions of suppliers that provide safety critical components. I for one
got a little tired trying to keep up with all the changes. Case in point is
AMP Connectors --> Tyco AMP --> TE Connectivity. There are possibly thousands
of cases like this.

Does anyone know of a central clearing house for such historical information?

Thanks, Doug
