That sort of product is ahead of the standards development. Clearly, the HV part
must be demonstrated to be safe. Notified Bodies don't exist in this context,
but you would do well to go for third-party assessment by a major test house.

Subject: [PSES] LVD EMC and High voltage SMPS

Hi,
I am hoping you can give some clarification.

I have a client with a High voltage SMPS that is looking place into the European
market. There is low voltage input that powers displays and controls, and High
voltage DC input ( >1500) for the pulsing SMPS.
Since the High voltage DC input is greater than 1500 V, can I assume that the
LVD applies only to the those components that are connected to the low voltage
input, and it does not apply to components connected to High Voltage input. The
sections are isolated. And does that mean that the HV circuit is subject only
to the EMC directive?
Or can the entire device be exempt from the LVD as long as the low voltage power
supply is already LVD compliant and CE marked?
We are using IEC 61010-1 our main standard.
Your input is greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
