The formal objection by the UK is rather interesting. For those who haven’t looked at it yet, I will summarize it by stating that it includes a London Fire Brigade report from October 2012. The report details the risk of fire from the flammable materials used for the back panels of refrigerators. This seems prescient in light of the Grenfell Tower disaster that may have stemmed from this very issue. As such, the reason for withdrawal may be well warranted and the withdrawn standard may not be sufficient to demonstrate compliance with the essential requirements of the Directive.
