An interesting question, and, from the text of Schedule 1, I would guess that these are technically excluded (though, for why, I have no idea).
In addition, that same exclusion would appear to include all the power line comms devices which use the mains supply network and also any BS1362 sockets with in-built USB power supply modules (and there are a lot of those around nowadays) - OTOH, this made me take a look at the Tp-Link PLC units that I recently bought to extend the LAN to the garage, and the plug sections of those are marked "BS1363". I think that, given the wording of Schedule 1, then any such plu-in devices and/or sockets then must fall back into the scope of the Electrical Equipment Safety Regulations 2016 <https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2016/1101/regulation/3> - or else there is one hell of a hole in the UK legislative framework.! It would be interesting to hear the views of some of the UK Notified Bodies (now still "Notified Bodies" until at least the end of June! J) on this subject! John E Allen W.
