I recall that CB was, at one time, required if the Technical Construction File route to compliance with the LVD and EMC directives was pursued if for example, generic standards were applied. Due to complications in making Harmonised Standards provide a “legal” presumption of conformity, following the James Elliott court case, we are left with the situation where there a number of HS that are quite old.
