Use caution and think before opening attachments, clicking links, or responding. Hi James, You're overthinking this issue. Te requirement is the rating of the largest motor or load. If there were to be subdivisions as you suggest, those would be included in the requirement. They're not asking about the motor drive (servo, VFD, etc.) they're asking about the motor. So if you have a 10 kW servo motor on your machine, and it's the largest motor OR the largest load (or by implication either of those), then that's what needs to be on the nameplate. The standards writers are concerned about supply conductor sizing, so the supply conductors need to be sized for AT LEAST that load, and likely more. The information is used by the electricians who are left responsible for sizing the supply conductors and the mains supply OCPDs that protect the supply branch circuit conductors up to their connection to the machine mains supply terminals. Included is the "Ampere rating of the largest motor or load". Does this refer to largest AC mains driven motor? If a machine's largest motor is an AC servo motor driven by a Servo Drive, does the rating of Servo Drive need to be indicated as the "largest load"?
