I got a chance to investigate this further and found that the backlash is not delayed, but overshooting when the direction changes. This was with the feed at 25 IPM. If I set the feed to 10 IPM the problem goes away. What is strange is that it does not overshoot in MDI mode with the feed set at 25 IPM. Any Ideas?
