The big problem is you have two, parallel, X-Y stages.  EMC
doesn't have the interpreter set up to handle two totally
separate coordinate systems.  This is the same problem for
wire EDM.  The back end that handles the motion control could
do it with no trouble.  Changing the interpreter to handle XY
and UV doesn't sound so difficult until you realize there are 
all these offsets, smoothing, look ahead, etc. to consider.
