Greetings guys; As some of you know from IRC, I found the keyboard problem, it seems logitech thought it would be a good idea to have a function keys lock, and dummy me never noticed the led that tally's they are active when it went out as I was moving the keyboard around. Furthest thing from my mind...
My hats off to you guys, this is actually running my micromill at speeds up to 27ipm, about 8ipm faster than the old head checkout ever did. I've built the surface probe that Dean Hedin posted a link to the pix of, and hooked it up on p10 of the xylotex board. I did have to hit the ir led in the interrupter with its full rated current, 19 to 20 ma via a 200 ohm resistor from the xylotex 5 volt src, in order to make the transistor output a decently low logic zero of about .250 volts against a 420 ohm pullup though, so the gain, or lack thereof in the digikey device I used was disappointing. Yeah, I know, those are odd resistor values, I have several pounds of blackouts from the Dale plant in Norfolk NE, collected from a friend who worked there back in the 70's. .1% stuff that didn't make it past final inspection and were destined for the bin. :-) I've edited my standard_pinout.hal file to get rid of the spindle controls on parport_pin-10, and added newsig motion.probe-input bit linkps parport_pin-10-input => motion.probe-input That could be a linksp above, I'm working from memory. And I can use the halcmd monitoring to see it (motion.probe-input) change state from FALSE to TRUE in reasonably real time, but I'm missing the final step that should tell it to do its thing when executing a g38.2f.02z-0.1 command, which will take it down far enough at activate the probe, or if I push it up while its slowly descending. The little hal window shows it, but there's no reaction from the running g38.2 command that was executed from the MDI interface. The new manual I just printed is zip help on this item, and the wiki is even less, so I could sure use some help. I'd druther not cvs the code just so I can read the src, but I could if someone can give me the comands to get the 2.1.4 checkout I could do that. And if I had write perms on the wiki, I'd record it there for future references. -- Cheers, Gene "There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo.
