I don't have a printer actually on my emc2 box Bill, but what I did do was add 
a client.conf file to /etc/cups that pointed at this FC6 machine over the 
network.  If I want to print something, I just send it to lp1 and it spits 
out on the output tray here in the house.
  
This may be the best solution as I'm not the only one that's found having a 
load of stuff on the usb bus can result in timing glitches for emc2.  Even a 
64megabyte usb stick just being plugged in will do it.  The mouse doesn't 
seem to bother it though.

And I was going to cat it for you as an example, but I'd forgotten I'd had to 
re-install, so I'll have to re-invent that wheel myself.  Possibly adept may 
have a client.conf package, but you'll still have to edit it to configure it.

If you have some other version of linux on a different box, take a read 
of "man cups" which should lead you to client.conf help somewhere in it.  
I've NDI why ubuntu left that out, dumb IMO.
