That's my problem here Ray, even on a 1600mhz desktop machine.  If I so much 
as plug in a usb key drive, the machine will flood the consoles with those 
errors since the scan for devices is every 250 milliseconds.

The shared video memory on the lappy will probably do the same thing and there 
is no fix, you must have a separate video card, but it doesn't have to be a 
fawncy one at all.  But between that and the poorly done parports, that does 
tend to rule out using a lappy for real work.
