There are no "4 phase" motors, these are actually misnamed 2-phase motors. (There are Vexta and Berger_Lahr 5-phase motors, although Vexta (Oriental Motor) also make a lot of 2-phase motors, and some extremely ancient 8" floppy drives had 3-phase stepper motors.)
You want a stepper with relatively low voltage rating, which generally means low inductance and lower resistance in the windings. These perform better at higher speeds. Generally, Gecko drives work better with "square" body stepper motors. I haven't seen any stepper that wasn't a hybrid PM motor in ages.
