I beg to differ.  Some drives like a step pin that is normally high
and goes briefly low, and some like it to be normally low and go
briefly high.  Sure, you can usually get away with using it the other
way around, but you are more likely to have setup and/or hold time
issues if your drive is stepping on the opposite edge that stepgen
thinks it is.

There are also minor issues with things like optocouplers.  It is
slightly better to have the LED normally off and pulse it on, rather
than normally on and pulsing it off.
