Hi John,

there are 3 sample configs supplied along with emc2, all refering to THC
(torch height control).
I'm not sure if they are both in 2.1.7 (current version), but they will be
definately part of 2.2.0

http://cvs.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/emc2/configs/dallur-thc/
http://cvs.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/emc2/configs/plasma-thc/
http://cvs.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/emc2/configs/plasma-thc-sim/

There is also some information about this in the wiki at
http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emcinfo.pl?Torch_Height_Control

A more current diagram of the hal file (for the plasma-thc config) used is
here:
http://cvs.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/~checkout~/emc2/configs/plasma-thc/README?rev=1.1;content-type=text%2Fplain
(hint: you need OpenOffice to view it)

Hope this helps as a starting point.
If you need more info try on #emc on irc.freenode.net

Best regards,
Alex Joni

PS: thanks to Dallur/Rugludallur for some great documentation on the work
they did
