When jogging, maybe it works because only one axis is moving. I think you should check for power supply sag while several motors are moving (like running the spiral.) Your capacitors are much more likely to be "tired" than your motors I bet. Or, maybe one or more diodes are bad. If the supply is 3 phase you could lose several diodes and it would still (sort of) work. You could also investigate a higher DC supply. The geckos will go way over 45 volts. It is probably so low because of limitations of the original drives. With modern current limiting like geckos have, you should be able to run them much higher.
