Your iso might be bad even if it checks, md5sum has been replaced with 
sha1sum, and there is a readahead bug that might be raising its head too.
If you downloaded it with a bittorrent client, I would restart the client and 
it will checksum every byte of the iso, and correct any errors as its getting 
ready to share your copy.

As for logs, if there is a file by file checksum, I'd think the script to do 
it should be on the disk, and can be re-run by hand once booted.  That might 
allow a capture of the exact error.
