I'm building a similar style machine for plasma cutting and properly designed
will have very small backlash. For that much Z I would use linear bearings. 
I had to machine all the connectors and motor mounts myself so I can't help
 you with off the shelf parts. I used FrameWorld extruded parts with their 
slides 
on X and Y with liner bearings for the Z

You can see the endblock details. I used toothed belts on the X & Y axis. 
Testing of the X axis shows a backlash of <0.001" using this method. I would
use a much heavier belt for anything with side loads like engraving...
