I am using the Hostmot-4 config which can provide 50 kHz PWM output.
Can up/down encoder counter mode be specified from the EMC driver? Or 
are some VHDL changes needed?
I assume I would connect the AD654 to an encoder A-channel and just 
ground the B-channel ?
