At least some of them are totally compatible, in that they look 
like they standard 0x378 parallel port, but may get moved to 
another address by the PnP enumerator.  You will need to know 
the address of the PCI card.  We have some at work that are 
totally compatible with our own home-brew software with no 
changes other than the main port address.
