another, somewhat related thing I noticed yesterday: when the spindle speed S is set to zero, and you give an M3 or M4 command nothing much happens - the spindle goes forward or reverse but with 0 RPM. That seems OK. Not so if you do it via halui (halui.spindle.forward or halui.spindle.reverse). Halui assumes you really want some action and if S=0 halui will start the spindle with an arbitrary hard-coded S=500.
