Gene: There's nice background material on electoplating, electrodeposition, and such in the Wikipedia. I did enough electroplating in grad school not to want to go there if I can avoid it.
Did you notice that CoolAmp also markets Conducto-Lube? I don't know if it would work in your application but it's nice stuff. It's been 40 years since I worked with vacuum tubes. My last project was a 40kw RF power supply for a grad school physics experiment I built based on a surplus 1950s vintage Collins transmitter the Navy used for shore-to-ship communications. I fell in love with the glow of filaments when I was a teenager. I learned the hard way with that if you have a metal splinter in your finger don't wave your hand near the output circuitry (until that moment I didn't have a clue the splinter was there). The "inside out" burn I got was the most painful and long-to-heal wound I've ever suffered.
