I was dreading that answer! Do you know of another GUI which does support
tool on top for lathe?

I am not too bothered about it being drawn on the screen the wrong way
around but re-assigning the keyboard keys would make it perfectly usable. At
the moment pressing the up arrow and having the tool move physically
downwards is just not intuitive.
