Yes, emc2 can take a feedback signal (from an encoder on the motor 
shaft, resolvers on the table, etc), close the control loop in the PC 
(where it's totally transparent and configurable by the user), and 
provide a control signal back to the motor amps.


emc2 has drivers for a *lot* of hardware, the list is on our wiki here:
